ADSL Internet Access

CIS is one of few ISPs who are final points of authentication for Telkom/SAIX ADSL ports. This means we are able to offer an unprecendented level of service - up to the minute diagnostic and usage information - to anyone who has a Telkom/SAIX ADSL Line.

Download and print: the CIS ADSL Account Application form and Telkom ADSL Line Application form (you most likely need both of these).

We provide a pay-for-what-you-use service with no hard limits.
Our clients do not subsidise others - You only pay for what you use.
To prevent unexpected bills you can set up notification limits in our Control Panel to send SMS and/or email alerts when a usage threshold has been reached.
From the control panel you can change your password or even switch to a cheaper rate

ADSL (access only, other services are charged for seperately) is available at R65/GB, payable via Debit Order or at discounted rate of R56/GB for clients who contract for significant other services also.

Our ADSL accounts have selectable profiles. If the account is switched to the LITE profile bandwidth is charged at R35/GB.

Want a Static ADSL IP for free? CIS offers a unique DNS service that provides a dynamically updated A record that points to your ADSL IP address. There is no additional cost for this, nor does it require any configuration on your PC. It is completely independant of your operating system and is as reliable as any dynamic DNS provider

Some clients use this facility to host their own websites (or part of their websites) - it can also be used to 'find' your ADSL connected server for VPN connectivity. You can create a CNAME entry in any domain to mask this functionality from your clients - effectively the world will think you have a static IP.

The example on the right shows Telkom and CIS costs for 1 Month for a Private user who runs a Small Office Home Office (SOHO) setup. Costs are current as at May 2009.

If the client had chosen to use Telkom for everything the total cost-to-client for the period would have been R441.28 (This would have included POP3 email from Telkom). The comparible CIS total cost-to-client is R333.31.

Note also :-

that CIS does not require that ADSL clients use our POP3 email accounts so there could be an additional saving or R50pm if Hotmail/Gmail or similar provider is used.
that CIS will host an entire mail domain for SOHO users, ADSL usage charges might be reduced in this instance since we would introduce hosting charges. This option is not available from Telkom

CIS only charges clients for what they use, there is no cross subsidising and no 'capping'.
