We are a IT Hardware and Software Distribution Company based in Cape Town. This is a cutthroat market, and the need to market our products and be well in touch with customers is of paramount importance. We tried allot of mailing programs to market our products but with minimal success. The CIS Mail lists Platform has met our needs exactly, we send out 1900 emails every second day with our latest specials and deals and for the first time since we began using email as a marketing tool all of our clients are receiving our mails and we can manage the system ourselves and dont need a 3rd party. The system has also taken the admin need for us to unsubscribe those who wish to leave the list out of hands by enabling the recipient to unsubscribe himself, which is very useful. The adding of new email addresses and maintaining them is so easy and a real pleasure. We can strongly recommend the CIS Mail lists Platform.

CIS has developed a product that uniquely meets small to medium sized organisations' email marketing needs.

see Costs below

In developing this product we attempted to improve upon what we found was the status quo in the market:-

  1. Using locally installed software (on your PC) to compose and send the email
Why is this bad? Most ISPs block emails from a dialup or ADSP IP and if you get round this by using your ISP's SMTP server you are limited to a few hundred emails a day at most
Our improvement: Our solution does not require any software to be installed locally and does not use your dialup or ADSL bandwidth to distribute the email. We use a high quality static data center IP address with no limits. If you publish an SPF record for your domain we will give you this address to include to further ensure delivery of your emails.
  2. Using a web interface to compose (and validate your email before it can be sent)
Why is this bad? You would need to learn how to compose emails in some form of HTML editor. These tools charge per email sent.
Our improvement: You use only your normal email client to compose the email and can use all of it's editing features. CIS does not charge per email sent.
  3. Difficulties unsubscribing from unwanted emails...
Why is this bad? can result in negative publicity, damaged customer relations and even legal action
Our improvement: A single click on a web link inserted by our software into your email is all that is necessary for a recipient to 'opt out' of receiving further emails.

2010/10/10: This system adds a List-Unsubscribe header to further facilitate delivery of emails and removal of email addresses from lists where email software vendors respect this header

Costs

If you are considering using the system, please see Conditions of use and Setup Requirements (These are not long and contain important information, please make sure you have read and understood them)

There are 4 price plans

There is an example of how these translate to real use below. We will re-evaluate your price plan periodically based on the previous months usage (IE Average usage over a month applies). The system will show you your predicted price plan based on the previous 30days usage each time you log on. It also provides many ways to monitor usage.

If your usage indicates a change in tier is necessary, these are the terms of variation:

  1. You could agree with the new tier and pay the increased fee
  2. You could adjust usage to fall into the original price plan - IE Reduce the size or number of emails that you send (send less frequently or to fewer recipients)
  3. Since the agreement is month-to-month you are always free to discontinue use of the system without any financial penalty

The number of emails you can send is not the number you send to the distribution system, but the number it sends out. IE: If you send 1X to a list with 100 people on or 10x to a list with 10 people on you have (in both cases) sent 100 emails.

If your emails are each around 500kB in size If your emails are each around 250kB in size If your emails are each around 25kB in size
